Spanish National Police have arrested four people in the town of Orihuela following a violent robbery at a private home. The suspects include three men and one woman, who are accused of acting together during the incident.

Police say a man and a woman forced their way into the victim’s home after pushing the door open. Once inside, they allegedly held a knife to the victim’s neck and demanded money and banking documents. During the robbery, the pair took a mobile phone, cash, a bank card and a bank book belonging to the victim.

Investigators say two other men later attempted to use the stolen bank card to withdraw money from a cash machine. Up to seven withdrawal attempts were made, but all were declined.

The investigation began after the victim reported the crime. Officers identified and arrested the pair suspected of carrying out the robbery, noting that the woman had previously met the victim and knew he lived alone and had health problems. Further enquiries led to the arrest of the other two men. Three of the suspects have now been brought before the Orihuela courts.
