Orihuela officials have suspended classes throughout Thursday at four schools in Orihuela Costa: CEIP Los Dolses, CEIP Playas de Orihuela, CEIP No. 20 and IES Playa Flamenca. Two boats carrying 26 people have attempted to reach the coast of the Region of Murcia, according to sources at the Government Delegation. The group consisted of 25 men and one woman. The people were assisted by the Spanish Red Cross and are reported to be in good health. The boats were reported in the areas of Cartagena and Cabo de Palos on Wednesday.

The Maritime Harbourmaster’s Office has removed a sailing boat believed to be flying the French flag after it remained stranded in Encañizada Cove, north of Cabo de Palos, since 10 September. The vessel was removed on Tuesday. Authorities have imposed a €10,000 bond on its owner as a precautionary measure. The Guardia Civil was also involved in the operation.

A new parking regulation has come into force on Ramón Gallud Street in central Torrevieja. The measure applies from Tuesday 15 September and limits parking to two hours on weekdays between 8am and 8pm. Outside the regulated hours, from 8pm to 8am, drivers can park without a time limit. The restriction also does not apply on non-working days.
