Local Police in Rojales have highlighted a happy ending after a neighbour rescued a dog that had fallen into one of the town’s irrigation channels. The incident took place on 31 December, when the animal, named Edurne, was unable to escape on her own.

Thanks to the quick and selfless action of the resident, the dog was brought to safety. After the rescue, the neighbour contacted Local Police to report the situation, as there were concerns the animal may have been abandoned. Officers confirmed that Edurne was in good health and began the necessary steps to locate her owner.

Police have praised the role of public cooperation, saying actions like this show strong awareness and care for animal welfare. They also reminded pet owners of their legal responsibilities, warning that significant fines can be issued if animals are not properly cared for.

Local Police added that if a pet goes missing or escapes, residents should contact them as soon as possible so efforts can be made to locate the animal quickly.
