Spanish police have arrested a forty‑eight‑year‑old man wanted by the UK in connection with an alleged fraud valued at around £180,000. Officers detained him at Alicante–Elche Airport after receiving information that he might be living in the province. A police operation was launched once investigators traced him to Orihuela Costa.

According to British authorities, the suspect is accused of posing as a kitchen and bathroom installer between 2018 and 2022, using company logos without permission to gain clients’ trust. He is alleged to have taken large advance payments before failing to carry out any of the agreed work.

Victims reportedly lost all the money they had paid, and attempts by the suspect to claim that refunds had been issued were never supported by evidence. The total losses are estimated at close to £180,000, affecting numerous customers.

Following his arrest and initial police procedures, the man has been brought before Spain’s National Court, which is responsible for handling extradition requests. He could face a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison if convicted in the UK.
