Five people have been taken to hospital after a fire broke out on Sunday morning in Elche. Emergency services say the group, aged between 19 and 35, suffered smoke inhalation during the incident. The alarm was raised at around 8.30am, prompting a significant response from local medical teams.
Crews from SAMU, a Basic Life Support unit and a TNA ambulance were sent to Antonio Mora Ferrández Street, where the fire had been reported. Paramedics treated the five individuals at the scene before transferring them to Elche General Hospital.
Officials have not released details on the severity of their conditions, but all were taken in for further assessment. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Local authorities are expected to carry out an investigation to determine how the blaze started and whether any further safety measures are required.
