Police in San Pedro del Pinatar are investigating a suspected stabbing after a man was found dead in Lo Pagán early on Sunday morning. The victim, believed to be around 50 years old and of Latin American origin, was discovered at about 6am in Calle Berlín, near a pub popular with the local Latin community. He had suffered a severe abdominal wound, thought to have been caused by a knife. Emergency teams from the 112 service confirmed he had died at the scene.

According to the Guardia Civil, the man was found lying in a pool of blood, and initial checks suggested he may have walked a short distance before collapsing. An autopsy at the Institute of Legal Medicine is expected to provide more details about the cause of death and whether the incident followed a street altercation.

Officers have collected CCTV footage from the area and are searching for one or more individuals who may be linked to the case. Residents told police they heard shouting and disturbances during the night near the small Concejal Fernando Villena park and Villananitos beach, where weekend late‑night incidents have reportedly become more common.

If confirmed as a murder, this would be the 20th homicide recorded in the Region of Murcia this year. Authorities had already logged 19 killings between January and the end of October, along with 68 attempted cases, contributing to a sharp rise in regional crime levels.
