The Spanish authorities have intercepted five boats carrying forty‑one people off the coast of Cartagena. The Guardia Civil and Maritime Rescue located the vessels south‑east of Monte Cenizas during an operation earlier in the week, according to the regional office of the national government.
The occupants included two minors and a woman. They were taken to the Muelle de Santa LucÃa in Cartagena, where Red Cross teams carried out initial health assessments and confirmed that all were in good condition.
After receiving assistance, the migrants were transferred to the National Police for identification and processing in line with current immigration procedures.
Officials say the interceptions followed routine coastal monitoring and that all rescue work was completed safely, with no injuries reported.
