Police in La Unión have named a suspect following several knife-point robberies at multiprice shops on Monday evening. Officers were called after a man allegedly threatened staff with a knife and stole small items before fleeing in a Seat León. The first incident took place at a shop on Calle Sor Virtudes, where the worker provided officers with details of the vehicle involved.

According to police, at least two other similar incidents were reported that same afternoon. The affected shopkeepers, many of whom are Chinese nationals, exchanged warnings through WhatsApp groups, sharing a description of the suspect and his behaviour. This helped officers build a clearer picture of the individual they were searching for.

A key breakthrough came when a witness provided the registration number of the car used in the getaway. Police later reviewed CCTV footage from the targeted shops, which allowed them to identify a man living in the Cartagena district of El Algar.

Local officers have completed the initial criminal report, which has now been forwarded to the Guardia Civil for further investigation.
