More than twelve thousand people attended Torrevieja’s Day of the Paellas at the Antonio Soria park, according to the municipal organisers. Residents had booked more than 500 plots for cooking and socialising, and the event once again formed part of the festivities in honour of La Purísima. The twenty-third edition of the paella competition awarded first place to Los Costeños, with Los Salerosos and Los Roper taking second and third. The T‑shirt contest saw Toda SP win the “most striking” category.

The celebrations included appearances from local cultural characters such as Lilí and the Giants and Bigheads troupe. Music and entertainment ran throughout the day, with performances by La Hornet, DJ Charri with Alcafly, and Luis López DJ. Thousands gathered around the stage area, where security teams later intervened to break up a brief scuffle among teenagers.

Emergency medical teams, permanently stationed on-site, assisted a woman who suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after 5pm. She received treatment within two minutes of the alert, and three ambulances were sent to the scene near the Monge y Bielsa extension. She was stabilised and taken to Torrevieja University Hospital. Municipal sources confirmed the patient was not a minor, despite early rumours among attendees.

Police presence was significantly higher than in previous years, with a dozen Local Police officers, private security staff, and units from the Guardia Civil and its USECIC division. Plots were spaced with wider walkways across the sixty‑thousand‑square‑metre site, supported by thirty‑five thousand square metres of parking. The day ended at dusk with participants dismantling tents and equipment before the venue closed.
