Official figures from the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy show unemployment continued to fall in both the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia in two thousand and twenty five, with each recording its lowest year-end total since two thousand and seven and a fifth consecutive annual decline.

In the Valencian Community, unemployment dropped by twenty five thousand five hundred and sixty over the year to two hundred and eighty nine thousand nine hundred and forty three. December added a further fall of two thousand one hundred and seventy three. Women still make up the majority of jobseekers, at one hundred and seventy seven thousand and eighty one, with male unemployment at one hundred and twelve thousand eight hundred and sixty two. Youth unemployment also improved, with four thousand nine hundred and seven fewer under twenty fives across the year.

In Murcia, the total fell by five thousand four hundred and seventy five in two thousand and twenty five, to seventy three thousand four hundred and eighty one, with a December drop of one thousand and thirty nine. Women accounted for forty five thousand five hundred and twenty two of those unemployed, compared with twenty seven thousand nine hundred and fifty nine men, and the number of under twenty fives seeking work fell again in the final month.

Hiring trends were also positive. In Valencia, contracts rose by seven point three per cent across the year, including a fourteen point two per cent increase in permanent deals. Murcia also saw a shift towards more stable work, with permanent contracts up twenty five point five per cent to twenty five thousand and sixty six, making up just over fifty seven per cent of contracts at year end.
