Police in Murcia have arrested three men accused of running a significant cannabis plantation inside a home in the El Progreso neighbourhood. Investigators say the suspects were responsible for installing and maintaining the set‑up, which had been concealed within a room altered with plasterboard to mask odours and obstruct police enquiries. The house reportedly suffered constant power cuts, and officers warned there was a permanent fire risk due to illegal electricity connections.

Residents are said to have raised concerns about noise, insalubrity, and suspicious activity linked to the property. Police noted a steady movement of people in and out of the home, which added to neighbours’ sense of insecurity.

During the operation, carried out on 12 November, officers seized nearly 500 cannabis plants at various stages of growth. They also confiscated more than 30 electrical transformers with lighting equipment, nine containers of phytosanitary products, and numerous items associated with intensive cultivation. Police say the set‑up included systems designed to mask activity and avoid detection.

The investigation concluded with the arrest of the three suspects, who have been charged with offences against public health and electricity fraud. They have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
