The President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has visited the modernisation works at Torrevieja Port, which involve more than €100 million of investment. He said the project is designed to reconnect the maritime area with the town while preserving its Mediterranean identity. During his tour, he was accompanied by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, and the regional vice-president and environment and infrastructure chief, Vicente Martínez Mus.

The works include the creation of a new seafront promenade to improve public access to the coast and a new fish market to support the local fishing sector. The scheme also preserves the historic port so residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the area’s heritage.

Pérez Llorca said the project represents effective cooperation between public bodies and the private sector. He added that the Torrevieja model will guide similar improvements at other Valencian ports, including Burriana, Vinaròs, Denia, Altea and Santa Pola, with sustainability as a central principle.

He also highlighted the Generalitat’s commitment to reducing bureaucracy and providing legal certainty for future investment. He noted additional projects in Torrevieja and the Vega Baja, such as new and upgraded schools, progress on the CV-95 road scheme, improvements to health facilities and plans for the Museum of the Eras de la Sal.
