A plastic surgeon working in the Valencian Community has been arrested in Alicante on suspicion of sexually assaulting a patient who was under anaesthesia. According to judicial sources, the incident took place on Thursday in a rented operating theatre at a private hospital in the Region of Murcia, where the woman was scheduled to undergo cosmetic breast surgery.

Two nurses present in the operating area reported that, once the patient was fully sedated, they saw the surgeon making movements they believed were sexual in nature. Concerned by what they were witnessing, they decided to record the scene on a mobile phone. The video, now in the hands of the investigating judge, allegedly shows the doctor penetrating the unconscious patient.

The nurses informed the hospital management before approaching the police. The case was then taken on by the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) of the Region of Murcia. After reviewing the evidence and locating the suspect, officers from the National Police arrested him at his mother’s home in Alicante and transferred him to police facilities.

The matter has been placed under the jurisdiction of a court specialising in Violence against Women. The judge heard witness statements from the two nurses and from the victim, a middle‑aged woman from Molina de Segura, whose formal complaint allowed the case to proceed. After spending three nights in custody and exercising his right not to testify, the surgeon was brought before the court. Given the seriousness of the alleged offence and the evidence provided, the judge ordered his provisional imprisonment without bail.
