Torrevieja has celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception with its customary Magna Procession, held each year on 8 December. Residents filled the streets as balconies and façades were decorated with banners honouring the town’s patron. The image of La Purísima left the parish church after the afternoon Mass, greeted by large crowds waiting outside.

The procession featured traditional musicians, the Real Asociación Hijos de la Inmaculada, and the Sociedad Musical Los Salerosos. The Corte de Reina y Damas de la Sal and local authorities also took part. As the procession reached the Casino, the image was honoured with the National Anthem and a firework display by the bay.

Along the route, the choir José Hódar performed the habanera “A mi añoransa” outside the municipal library. The procession then continued through several central streets before returning to the parish church. One of the most emotional moments came with the singing of the Salve Marinera, supported by soloists and the Unión Musical Torrevejense.

This year’s event introduced a new inmaculist banner, designed to highlight the Inmaculate Conception Dogma. La Purísima also displayed her restored coronation halo, and the Association presented a newly restored main standard. Association president Antonio Aniorte praised the celebrations, noting record participation in the flower offering and the success of recent programme changes.
