Mazarrón Local Police arrested a man on Saturday after he allegedly attempted to break into a bank in the Camposol residential area. The alarm was activated during the early hours, prompting the Region of Murcia’s 112 emergency centre to alert officers. A routine patrol reached the scene quickly and found significant damage to the bank’s main entrance. The suspect was discovered inside the branch and arrested on the spot.

Police say he now faces charges relating to vandalism, with further offences possible as the investigation progresses. The man’s identity has not been released, and officers have not confirmed whether anything was taken during the attempted break‑in.

Additional local police teams, already on duty for the town’s patron saint celebrations, attended the scene to support the response. Guardia Civil officers from Puerto de Mazarrón also arrived to help secure the bank and continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are reviewing evidence from the scene and nearby security cameras as part of the ongoing investigation.
