Torrevieja’s Local Government Board has approved the basic plan for a major redevelopment at Eras de la Sal, intended to create a multi‑purpose complex centred on the International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest. The design has been produced by Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos, led by award‑winning architects Ángela García de Paredes and Ignacio García Pedrosa.

The project is divided into three phases. The first, already under way, focuses on restoring the historic Ice Factory and adjoining building to house a municipal tourism office and other council services. Phase two covers the construction of a permanent‑seating auditorium on the site of the former Marina Internacional slipway, which will also form a viewing point over Torrevieja’s bay. The remaining slipway area will be turned into a public space of around 12,000 m2.

Phase three includes the development of the Museum of the Sea and Salt, incorporating permanent and temporary exhibition halls and a multi‑purpose room. The museum will sit partly below street level, with its main entrance opening onto the promenade along the Muelle de las Eras.

The works are valued at 31.15 million euros, with roughly half funded by the council and half from the Generalitat Valenciana, the Alicante Provincial Council, and European funds. The council expects to tender the auditorium and museum works in spring 2026, once the execution project is completed and usage permissions for the old slipway are secured.
