On the sixteenth of May eighteen fourteen, Norway’s Constitution was approved, and since then, the seventeenth of May has been celebrated as the country’s National Day. This annual commemoration took place in Torrevieja yesterday, with more than seven hundred residents participating in colorful festivities that included a parade through the city’s streets, displaying numerous national flags.

The parade commenced at the Monument to the Man of the Sea and traversed the Paseo Marítimo. It featured the music of ‘Los Claveles’, a local band from Alicante, providing a festive atmosphere as a river of Norwegians of all ages took part in the event. The procession culminated at the Mediterranean Cultures monument, known as ‘Las Columnas’, before returning to the natural pools.

During the celebration, local officials, including the mayor and councillors responsible for international residents and social welfare, addressed the crowd with congratulatory speeches. The event also saw the participation of the Norwegian Church and the Norwegian School from Rojales, fostering a spirit of integration among attendees.
