The Government of Murcia has approved the Special Emergency Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires, known as Plan Infomur. This initiative is designed to safeguard people, property, and the environment in the event of a forest fire. Daily, more than four hundred and fifty personnel will be mobilised for coordination, monitoring, and extinguishing efforts.

The plan outlines fire risk periods, defining high-risk from June first to September thirtieth, while medium risk covers two timeframes from April first to May thirty-first and October first to October thirty-first. A low-risk period is defined as November first to March thirty-first. To enhance vigilance, twenty fixed monitoring points and thirty-five pairs of municipal Civil Protection volunteers will be deployed.

In terms of firefighting capabilities, the plan incorporates three helicopters based in Alcantarilla, Abarán, and Lorca, which can transport water and crew to affected areas. Furthermore, it includes nineteen ground firefighting brigades and various rapid response teams. Additional support from the State is anticipated during high-risk periods.

Plan Infomur also provides for external action units that can quickly respond to fires in other regions if needed. Last year, these units were activated in response to wildfires in Alicante and Valencia. Throughout the years, the plan has successfully managed numerous incidents, substantially limiting the area affected by fire.
