Residents of Torrevieja are gearing up for the annual celebration of Norwegian National Day on Saturday, the seventeenth of May. The festivities will kick off with a traditional parade at eleven o’clock in the morning, beginning at the monument to the Man of the Sea. Councillor Gitte Lund, who oversees International Residents, invites all community members to join in the celebration.

Hundreds of Norwegian residents from Torrevieja and nearby areas will march along the Juan Aparicio promenade, making their way to the popular Playa del Cura. The event is set to reflect the rich culture and heritage of Norway as the community gathers for this special observance.

At twelve o’clock, the celebrations will shift to the natural swimming pools along the promenade. Here, attendees can expect institutional speeches to commemorate the event and a performance by the Norwegian School Choir. This programme promises to highlight the importance of the day for Norwegian citizens.

Norwegian National Day marks the anniversary of the country’s constitution, which was proclaimed in eighteen fourteen. Although Norway did not achieve full independence until nineteen oh five, this date has been celebrated as the National Day every year, serving as a public holiday filled with pride and tradition.
