The Alicante Provincial Court has confirmed the sentences imposed on two minors convicted of the murder of fifteen-year-old Cloe in Orihuela Costa in November twenty twenty-four. Each has been sentenced to eight years in a closed youth detention centre, followed by five years of supervised release. The court described the killing as despicable and said both defendants showed total disregard for human life.

Judges upheld the original ruling from the youth court, finding that both minors acted as co-authors. The judgement says they were involved from the initial planning through to the execution of the crime, and that the accomplice played an active and decisive role in ensuring the killing could be carried out.

The appeal, lodged by the accomplice, argued that he should not receive the same sentence as the former boyfriend, who carried out the fatal attack. The court rejected this, stating that without his assistance the crime might not have been completed. The former boyfriend did not appeal the murder conviction. The ruling leaves no ordinary avenue of appeal, except on potential grounds of fundamental rights before higher courts.
