Three children have been injured after metal roofing sheets fell from a sports club building in Cartagena, in the Murcia region. The incident happened on Hermano Pedro Ignacio Street, next to the Maristas school, when strong winds affected the area.

Emergency services received the call at 3.03 pm. Local Police, fire crews, Civil Protection teams and medical staff from the one zero six one emergency service attended the scene. Two children, aged ten and eleven, were treated at the site and later travelled to hospital by their own means.

A third child, also aged eleven, was stabilised at the scene for a leg injury and then taken to Santa Lucía Hospital. All injuries were described as minor.

The incident happened while the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón areas were under an orange weather warning. Authorities have warned of wind gusts of up to ninety kilometres per hour, along with rough coastal conditions, including strong south-westerly winds and waves of up to five metres.
