Orihuela Council has announced the launch of a new service allowing residents of Orihuela Costa to obtain or renew their national identity card or passport in a single appointment. The service will operate from the Costa Security and Emergency Centre and is designed to prevent residents having to travel to other towns for basic documentation.

The key feature is the use of a fully equipped National Police Integral Documentation Vehicle, known as VIDOC. This mobile unit offers the same facilities as a fixed documentation office, making it possible to complete identification, processing and issue of documents in one visit, with applicants leaving with their documents immediately.

Appointments must be requested through the Orihuela Council electronic office, in the identification and documentation section under prior appointment. Requests are not confirmed automatically and confirmation is sent later by email to avoid confusion. The first day of service will be 24 February 2026, running from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, with capacity for up to 50 documents.

Appointments are individual and fees must be paid in cash at the centre. The cost is 12 euros for an ID card and 30 euros for a passport, with legal exemptions such as for large families. Full requirements for adults and minors are available on the council website.
