San Miguel de Salinas council has launched a public awareness campaign after detecting an increase in furniture and household items being abandoned on public roads, in breach of local regulations. The move follows concerns about the impact of dumped items on street cleanliness and residents’ quality of life.

Under Article eighteen of the Citizen Coexistence Ordinance, residents are only allowed to leave furniture and bulky household items out for collection on designated days. In the town centre, items should be put out on Mondays, while in urbanisations the authorised day is Tuesday.

Local Police have warned that failing to follow these rules can result in financial penalties, with fines of up to 800 euros depending on the seriousness of the offence. The council has stressed that dumping items outside the permitted days contributes to waste build-up and creates problems for neighbours.

The town hall has appealed for public cooperation, urging residents to respect shared spaces and dispose of household items responsibly. Officials say keeping San Miguel de Salinas clean is a shared responsibility.
