Urban planning authorities have set a deadline of 45 days for the regional Health Department to repair the fire-damaged façade of block 5 at Hospital Santa Lucía. The order relates to damage caused during a serious fire on 26 November.
The blaze forced the evacuation of dozens of patients after flames threatened parts of the building. Emergency services moved patients to safety while firefighters brought the incident under control.
Officials have confirmed that the façade was made from a multi-layer aluminium composite panel with a thermoplastic core. This type of material has drawn scrutiny after being linked to other major fires, including the Campanar blaze in Valencia.
The Health Department is now required to carry out the repairs within the set timeframe, as part of wider safety measures aimed at reducing fire risks in public buildings.
