The educational community at CEIP Playas de Orihuela, made up of families and teaching staff, has started a daily, peaceful protest to draw attention to the ongoing lack of gas and heating at the school. The problem has continued for 118 consecutive days, leaving pupils attending classes in inadequate thermal conditions during the coldest months of the year.

The initiative involves taking a daily photograph with families and teachers, publicly marking each day the school remains without heating. The aim is to make the situation visible and to show the unity of the entire school community. The first day of the action has also been supported by the STEPH teaching union, which has joined the call for a solution.

The school’s parents’ association has stressed that the protest is not confrontational, but focuses on safeguarding pupils’ wellbeing and health. Heating-related incidents have been formally reported, but no effective solution has yet been provided. The community is calling on the relevant authorities to act urgently and says the daily action will continue until heating is restored and a permanent fix is in place.
