Firefighters in Spain’s Alicante province have responded to twenty-two incidents linked to strong winds affecting towns and cities across the area. The Provincial Fire Consortium confirmed the call-outs were handled over the course of Thursday, as gusty conditions caused a range of safety hazards.

Crews were mainly dealing with fallen fences and advertising signs, loose materials on roofs and buildings, and trees that had either fallen or were at risk of collapsing onto public roads. Fire officials said there were no reports of injuries linked to any of the incidents.

The highest number of call-outs was recorded in Orihuela, where crews attended seven incidents, followed by Elche with six. Firefighters also responded to wind-related problems in several other municipalities, including Benissa, Elda, Polop, Crevillent, Benejúzar, San Juan and El Campello.

The fire service has reminded residents to take care during periods of strong wind, particularly around unsecured objects, trees, and temporary structures, and to report any hazards that could pose a risk to public safety.
