More than eight thousand runners took part on Sunday in the thirty-fourth edition of the Santa Pola International Half Marathon, confirming its status as one of the most popular races in the Valencian Community. This year’s event introduced a new ten kilometre race, which took place ahead of the half marathon and attracted strong interest from participants.

The president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, attended the event and officially started the new ten kilometre race. He was joined by Santa Pola mayor and provincial deputy Loreto Serrano, along with the provincial deputy for culture, Juan de Dios Navarro. Pérez highlighted the high standard of organisation and reiterated the Provincial Council’s ongoing support for the event.

Organisers said the races passed without incident, supported by a special security and medical operation. The half marathon also drew runners from many countries, strengthening its international reputation. Local officials have underlined the event’s positive impact on tourism and the local economy, as well as its role in promoting healthy lifestyles and showcasing Santa Pola as a leading sports tourism destination.
