A forty-one-year-old man has died after being shot outside a home in the district of El Algar, near Cartagena, in the Region of Murcia. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, at around four o’clock, outside a duplex property in Juan XXIII Street.
The regional one one two emergency coordination centre received several calls from neighbours reporting a serious incident. Witnesses said they heard a loud detonation shortly before discovering a man lying on the ground with heavy bleeding.
Given the severity of the reports, Guardia Civil patrols, local police officers and a mobile medical unit from the zero six one emergency health service were sent to the scene. Despite rapid attendance and intensive efforts by medical staff to stabilise the victim, his injuries were too severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be taken to hospital.
