Cartagena now has a new headquarters for the Spanish Association Against Cancer, providing expanded care for cancer patients and their families across the city and the Mar Menor area. The centre is located at the junction of Carlos III and Ángel Bruna streets and serves Health Areas II and VIII.

The two-storey, 630-square-metre facility opened earlier this week and offers psychological support, social and legal advice, speech therapy, physiotherapy and a specialised gym for oncology exercise programmes. Mayor Noelia Arroyo said the bright and welcoming space plays an important role in improving the wellbeing of patients and families.

The centre forms part of the regional Activa Suma programme, which has helped more than 500 patients with therapeutic exercise since 2022. Regional president Fernando López Miras described the association as an essential partner to the public health system, noting it supported 350 people in Cartagena last year and expects to help more than 400 during 2026.

Volunteers and representatives from the association also attended the opening, highlighting services such as nutrition advice, rehabilitation exercise and a dedicated room for wig fittings. The event marked 60 years of the association’s work in Cartagena and recognised the contribution of long-serving volunteers.
