Cartagena’s town hall has opened a new dog park next to the Cartagonova Municipal Stadium, giving the city’s dog owners another dedicated space to exercise and socialise with their pets. The facility is located within La Rambla Park and adds to the existing dog park at Parque de la Rosa in Ciudad Jardín.

The new area covers more than 1,300 square metres and includes shaded zones and play equipment designed specifically for dogs. Councillors say the aim is to promote responsible pet ownership while providing a safe and sociable environment for animals and their owners.

The park was officially opened earlier this week, on Tuesday 13 January, by the Councillor for Health, Gonzalo López Pretel, alongside the Councillor for New Technologies, Diego Lorente. López Pretel said the project is the first of several new leisure areas for dogs planned across the municipality.

Two further dog parks are already in development, with one planned for El Palmeral in Cabo de Palos and another in Parque de los Exploradores in Santa Ana. The town hall says it is also consulting residents and pet owners about additional locations in other parts of the city.
