Two people have been arrested after an attempted theft of electric scooters at the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre in Orihuela Costa. The incident followed a foot chase through the complex involving officers from Orihuela Local Police.
Private security staff spotted two young people behaving suspiciously in the underground car park, where they were seen forcing scooters that had been left parked. Security alerted the Local Police, who arrived quickly at the scene.
When the suspects realised officers were present, they ran through the shopping centre in an attempt to escape. Police pursued them on foot and managed to detain both before the theft could be completed.
The two detainees were later handed over to the courts. Orihuela Local Police have highlighted the close coordination with private security and the rapid response as key factors in the successful outcome, which helped protect both visitors and workers at the centre.
