Refurbishment and extension works have officially begun at the CEIP Manuel de Torres in Almoradí, marking a major investment in local education. The start of the project has been confirmed after a meeting between the town council, the contracted company and the school’s management team, to coordinate technical and organisational details and ensure the centre can continue operating safely during the works.

The project is being delivered by Almoradí Town Hall through delegated powers from the Valencian regional government. It has moved forward after years of delays linked to rising construction costs caused by the energy crisis, the war in Ukraine and the economic impact of the pandemic. Collaboration between public authorities has now unlocked a project long requested by the school community.

The works, awarded to Vivendio Sostenibilidad Energética S.L. of the Aconser Group, will transform the school’s facilities. Plans include a new covered gym incorporating a modern library, new teaching and multi-purpose spaces, and major improvements to early years areas, including a psychomotricity room and safer play zones.

The project also includes fully renovated toilets, upgraded external joinery, air conditioning, solar protection systems, improved access routes and the installation of an accessible lift. Fire safety measures, renewed outdoor areas and new playground furniture are also planned, reinforcing the council’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality public education.
