Cartagena’s Local Police have arrested two men following separate alleged incidents of domestic abuse reported over the weekend. Both cases involve accusations of violence or mistreatment towards current or former partners, with police confirming that the arrests took place on Friday and Saturday nights.

The first arrest involved a thirty-seven-year-old man detained in the Los Dolores area on Friday night. His ex-wife contacted police to report ongoing harassment, emotional blackmail and psychological abuse. Officers said the suspect was inside the victim’s home at the time and allegedly insulted her in front of their child, who is a minor. The woman also reported previous incidents of physical aggression.

The second arrest took place on Saturday night in the district of Alumbres. A local woman called emergency services to report that she had just been physically assaulted by her ex-partner, with whom she was still sharing a home. When police arrived, the man admitted kicking her in the abdomen and was arrested at the scene.

The call does not appear on phone bills. Cartagena City Council also offers psychological, social and legal support through its Centre for the Care of Victims of Gender Violence.
