Torrevieja Council has approved urgent plans to repair, upgrade and improve the energy efficiency of several outdoor sports courts across the town. The project represents an investment of 784,188.03 euros, including VAT, and aims to modernise facilities that are heavily used by young people, families and local sports clubs.

The works include the full renewal of basketball hoops and goals with anti-vandal equipment, the installation of new sports-specific LED lighting, improved fencing and protective netting, and upgraded surfaces with non-slip sports paint. New foundations and concrete walls will also be built to improve safety and durability.

Upgrades will take place at the La Mata sports court in Plaza Perfecta Rodríguez, the Cabo Cervera sports court, and the Los Balcones courts in Plaza Reina de la Sal. The San Roque court is not included, as it will be refurbished under a separate project linked to the Integrated Action Plan and potential EU funding.

The contract will be awarded through a simplified open procedure, with work expected to last four months from the start date and no extensions planned. The council says the project underlines its commitment to sport, public spaces and neighbourhood cohesion.
