Murcia’s Juvenile Court No 1 has imposed twenty hours of community service on three minors after finding them responsible for a continued offence of criminal damage. The court concluded the youths deliberately kicked off wing mirrors from several parked cars in La Manga in the early hours of a summer night, causing damage that experts have valued. The parties accepted the facts and the civil liability, fixed at €1,622.43, which their legal representatives will assume.

The judgment specifies that the measures must be carried out in Murcia and Cartagena and originally could not be served in La Unión because the town council had no resources available, according to the public body. The magistrate has highlighted the regional convention with the Federation of Municipalities and urged the public authority to remove obstacles so that resources can be put in place and territorial equality in enforcement can be guaranteed.

The public body has informed the court that it secured placements to allow local execution of the measures. One minor is carrying out intergenerational work and accompaniment at a care centre in Cartagena at weekends, another is assisting in a foundation-run soup kitchen in the mornings, and the third is taking part in intergenerational activities with La Unión’s social services on several days each week. These activities follow the individual execution programmes and aim to promote reintegration in line with the Juvenile Justice law.
