The Orihuela Costa roads will receive much-needed maintenance, as confirmed in a press conference by Mayor Pepe Vegara and infrastructure councillors. A new service has been established with a significant annual budget of one point three million euros, which will run for a period of five years. This amount represents an increase of five hundred thousand euros compared to the previous contract that ended earlier this year.

The municipality’s environmental management service, SGM S.L., has been tasked with the maintenance of the roads. Notably, all staff members have been retained and four new employees have been added, bringing the total to twenty-three. The council has also distributed personal protective equipment to ensure the workers’ safety as they begin their tasks.

While the new service will focus solely on maintenance duties, significant road works such as resurfacing will be handled separately through contractor arrangements. The council aims to ensure that immediate actions are taken to improve the safety and upkeep of the roads effectively.

With this new allocation of resources, the local council seeks to enhance infrastructure in Orihuela Costa while addressing previous challenges encountered with the earlier management agreements. The community can expect a higher standard of road maintenance going forward.
