The Guardia Civil has detained a thirty-year-old man in Torrevieja, suspected of filming illicit images in the women’s changing room of a local sports centre. The case came to light on May twenty-eight when a woman reported witnessing a hand holding a mobile device above the shower cubicle while she was using the facilities.

After confronting the suspect, the woman alerted another user in the changing room, who together informed the gym staff. A few days later, another woman reported similar incidents occurring in the same establishment.

In response, the Guardia Civil initiated an investigation in coordination with the gym’s management, gaining access to technical resources necessary for collecting crucial evidence. Officers quickly identified the suspect, minimising the risk of image dissemination and safeguarding the victims’ privacy.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of two mobile phones belonging to the suspect, now available for judicial analysis. The arrested man, who has been charged with two offences against privacy, honour, and image, has been presented before the court but has since been released. The Guardia Civil emphasises the importance of prompt reporting to enable immediate actions to protect victims’ integrity.
