The Mayor of Pilar de la Horadada, José María Pérez, has announced that the anticipated reopening of the AP-7 tunnel, directing traffic towards Alicante and Cartagena, will not occur this weekend as initially planned. Mayor Pérez shared this news after discussions with various involved administrations and the infrastructure concessionaire, AUSUR.

According to a statement released on social media, the works will now extend through the weekend of the twenty-seventh to the twenty-ninth of June, with further updates anticipated in early July. The continuation of works has led to significant traffic congestion in Pilar de la Horadada, prompting local authorities to seek a swift resolution.

Mayor Pérez expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Transport and all those working tirelessly to expedite the opening of the tunnel. He highlighted the need for residents to remain patient as the local council continues to manage the situation.
