The west coast of Cartagena will see improvements to its green spaces with a new gardening contract valued at one hundred eighty four thousand nine hundred fifty eight euros and sixty three cents, including VAT. This contract has been awarded to the company STV and will initiate shortly. The local council aims to manage these services more effectively by splitting them into four contracts for different areas of the municipality.

Diego Ortega, the councillor for Urbanism and Infrastructures, highlighted the significance of this initiative for the community. He remarked, ‘We are firmly committed to enhancing our green spaces. The launch of this comprehensive gardening maintenance contract demonstrates our dedication to providing residents with better environments and enhancing the beauty of Cartagena.’

This new service will initially operate for six months, with an option for extension, leading to an overarching agreement lasting two years. It will cover approximately one hundred thousand five hundred fifty three square metres of established gardens, as well as maintain two thousand two hundred and sixteen trees and two thousand four hundred and forty seven palm trees.

Localities and urbanisations set to benefit from this arrangement include Campillo de Adentro, El Mojón, Isla Plana, La Azohía, La Chapineta, and San Ginés. The contract encompasses not only traditional gardening tasks but also includes the upkeep of urban furniture and minor construction works, ensuring a holistic approach to area maintenance.
