In a bizarre incident in Albudeite, the Guardia Civil, in collaboration with the Local Police, has detained five young individuals for their involvement in stealing a waste collection truck. The events unfolded early Saturday morning, June fourteenth, when the group, returning from local festivities, noticed the waste truck was left running and unattended by the driver.

Seizing the opportunity, two of the youngsters hopped into the truck and drove it through the streets of Albudeite, creating a significant risk to other road users and pedestrians. Meanwhile, three accomplices followed closely behind in a car, capturing the reckless joyride on their mobile phones.

The chaotic joyride concluded with a sudden stop of the waste truck, leading to a collision with the following vehicle. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but considerable damage was caused to the car, which belonged to one of the young men’s parents.

All actions were recorded by local traffic cameras, aiding the police in identifying those involved. The Guardia Civil has now arrested all five individuals, who are being investigated for the alleged crime of vehicle theft. The stolen truck returned to the waste management company, and an assessment of the damage is ongoing to determine liability.
