Torre Pacheco is set to convert the former health centre, in operation from nineteen eighty-four to two thousand two, into a significant cultural centre for the community. The local council has recently issued an urgent call for tenders to carry out the necessary construction work, aimed at creating a vibrant space for residents.

The development project was awarded through a competitive process in two thousand twenty-two, with the tender just opened for bids. Applications for this urgent project closed on June nineteenth, with the estimated cost hovering around two million nine hundred ninety-nine thousand six hundred forty-six euros.

The successful contractor will be required to complete the work within eight months, reflecting the pressing timeline. Javier Plaza, the Councillor for Finance and Tourism, emphasised that the urgency of this procedure is due to substantial financial backing from the European Next Generation funds, amounting to over two million two hundred thirty-six thousand euros.

The entire project aims to enhance cultural offerings in Torre Pacheco, providing a space for various community activities, thereby enriching local life and making effective use of the financial help provided by the European Union.
