Emergency services have located the body of a man aged between fifty-five and sixty in a rocky area at kilometre fifteen of La Manga, within the San Javier municipality. The discovery was made during a search operation launched after a wingfoil sportsman was reported missing at sea.

The alert was raised shortly before seven in the evening when a family member contacted the 112 emergency coordination centre to report that the man had been missing for around two hours. Maritime Rescue began a sea search and requested assistance from San Javier Local Police to cover the shoreline between Tomás Maestre marina and the end of La Manga.

Police officers later spotted a yellow wing and red board on rocks that matched the description provided. Nearby, in an area made dangerous by strong waves and wind, they found the man’s body. Conditions initially prevented safe access, and a Maritime Rescue vessel was unable to approach.

The Guardia Civil has since taken charge of the operation and the investigation. While the identity of the deceased has not yet been formally confirmed, the location, equipment and clothing found strongly suggest it is the missing wingfoil athlete.
