Almoradí Council has carried out a wide-ranging programme to improve road safety and urban accessibility across the municipality during 2025, with work completed on more than 200 pedestrian crossings. The project has been led by the Department of Infrastructure and has included maintenance, improved markings and the creation of new crossings where a clear need has been identified.

In the final phase of the programme, 96 pedestrian crossings were repainted. New crossings have also been installed in areas with heavy footfall or known safety issues, with both horizontal and vertical signage added. Surrounding areas have been adapted to improve accessibility, making it easier and safer for pedestrians and people with reduced mobility to move around the town.

The council has said priority has been given to locations close to schools, public spaces and particularly busy areas, with the aim of protecting the most vulnerable road users. Further work is planned for 2026, including maintenance and new crossings across different neighbourhoods.

In the coming weeks, improvements will focus on Manuel Birlanga Street up to Pascual Andreu School, where street corners will be adapted to improve accessibility and existing pedestrian crossings will receive clearer signage.
