A woman has been the victim of a violent robbery in Benidorm after a young man snatched a gold chain from her neck with a strong pull, almost causing her to fall while walking along a public street.

The incident was witnessed by an off-duty National Police officer, who saw the suspect approach two women from behind and steal the necklace from one of them before running away. The officer gave chase, identifying himself as police, and caught up with the suspect shortly afterwards. When confronted, the young man threw the gold chain to the ground.

Uniformed officers were called to the scene and arrested the suspect, an 18-year-old man, on suspicion of robbery with violence. During the intervention, police also identified a second man, aged 26, who was allegedly acting as a lookout and waiting in a nearby car with the engine running to help the suspect escape.

Investigators believe the two men acted in a coordinated way, with defined roles. Both have been taken before the on-duty investigating court in Benidorm.
