Firefighters from the Provincial Fire Consortium in Torrevieja have successfully rescued a cat that had become trapped inside a fallen streetlamp. The lamp was lying on the ground when crews arrived and discovered the animal stuck inside the metal tube.

According to the fire service, the operation required extreme care to avoid injuring the cat. Firefighters carefully cut into the streetlamp to create an opening and then used a specialised rescue loop to extract the animal safely.

After being freed, the cat was given an initial veterinary examination. It was confirmed that the animal had not suffered any injuries, although it was frightened and exhausted following the ordeal. The cat was later reunited with its owner.

The rescue has been praised as an example of the firefighters’ public service role, highlighting their commitment not only to protecting people, but also to helping animals in situations that demand patience, precision and sensitivity.
