Correos has launched a new Citypaq smart locker in Orihuela Costa, located at its Orquídeas Street office in Playa Flamenca. The installation is in a permanently accessible public space, allowing customers to collect, send and return parcels securely at any time of day.

The new Citypaq unit is made up of three modules with a total of eighteen lockers in different sizes, designed to accommodate a wide range of parcel formats. The system meets all security requirements and complements the services offered at traditional Correos counters.

Across the province of Alicante, more than one hundred Citypaq devices handled 126,576 parcels during 2024. That represented a growth of 59.3 per cent compared with the previous year, underlining the increasing popularity of automated parcel services linked to online shopping.

Correos says Citypaq also allows private individuals to send parcels without visiting a counter and helps reduce delivery vehicle journeys by concentrating drop-offs in one location, cutting traffic and emissions. Most users collect their parcels within an average of eighteen hours after notification.
