The regional president, Fernando López Miras, has officially opened a new Local Police station in La Manga, highlighting the importance of security as an investment in quality of life, freedom and economic activity. The facility was inaugurated last Friday and is intended to strengthen policing in a busy coastal area.

The station is located in the Manga Beach building at kilometre 6.5 of the Gran Vía, within the municipality of San Javier. It operates twenty four hours a day, covers 230 square metres and will gradually increase its workforce to a total of eighteen officers.

Seven officers assigned specifically to La Manga are due to join in February. A further six will be added once recruitment tests are completed as part of a wider intake of twenty one officers across the municipality.

San Javier Council has invested close to 400,000 euros in the building, while the regional government has provided additional funding for equipment and facilities. The project forms part of the regional government’s security plan, which allocated 22 million euros to public safety last year, including funding for motorcycles, drones and a rural patrol vehicle.
