Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has finished 2025 with almost 20 million passengers, marking the busiest year in its history. According to airport operator Aena, a total of 19,950,394 travellers passed through the terminal, an increase of 8.5 per cent compared with 2024, representing more than 1.5 million additional passengers.

Flight activity also reached record levels during the year. The airport handled 126,081 aircraft movements in 2025, up 8.4 per cent on the previous year, with Aena describing monthly figures as historically high throughout the year.

International travel continued to dominate traffic at the Alicante terminal, accounting for 88 per cent of all passengers. International passenger numbers rose by 10.6 per cent to 17.46 million, while domestic traffic fell by 4 per cent to just over 2.47 million travellers.

The United Kingdom remained the airport’s largest international market, with more than 6.5 million passengers, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland. December also set a new record, with 1.32 million passengers and more than 9,100 flights, both significantly higher than the same month in 2024.
