The Town Hall of Torrevieja has awarded the contract for transporting teams of the Municipal Sports Schools to the private company Avanza. The award was made at an extraordinary and urgent local government meeting on 21 November. The contract will run for four years, with an option to extend for a further year, and is valued at €469,302.68, VAT included.

Councillor for Sport Diana Box Alonso has said the contract preserves and improves the transport service provided to pupils. The municipal sports model provides transport to competitions outside the city, free use of local facilities, a sports monitor and accident insurance with care at Hospital Quirón. The scheme aims to make sport more accessible, promote healthy habits among young people and instil sporting values.

The council has also highlighted wider benefits: organised transport reduces the number of private vehicles on the roads on match days and guarantees that young athletes can attend competitions without depending on family work schedules.
