The Guardia Civil and Almoradí local police have arrested three men accused of illegal detention, assault and serious threats after two men were allegedly kidnapped and beaten in Almoradí, Alicante. The suspects, aged 20, 28 and 44, have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number two in Orihuela, which was on duty, while inquiries continue.

According to a Guardia Civil statement, the incidents occurred late on the evening of 31 October when the suspects intercepted the two victims at different points in the town, bound them and forced them into a vehicle. Neighbours who saw the men being pushed into the car raised the alarm and a coordinated urgent operation by the Guardia Civil and local police was launched.

Officers found the vehicle in a nearby field and heard calls for help, intervening to detain the three suspects during the assault. Investigators say the first indications point to a possible reprisal for a robbery committed days earlier; a fourth person suspected of taking part fled the scene and remains at large. The two victims suffered multiple injuries and received medical attention.
